What residential electrical work can we connect you with?
Most calls from Maricopa homeowners fall into a handful of jobs. Contractors in our network commonly handle:
- Electrical repair and troubleshooting — dead outlets, tripping breakers, flickering lights, burning smells
- Panel upgrades and breaker replacement — moving to 200 amps, replacing worn or recalled panels
- EV charger installation — Level 2 and Tesla Wall Connector circuits in the garage
- Ceiling fans and lighting — fan installs, recessed lights, landscape and security lighting
- Whole-home surge protection and generators
- Pool, spa and hot tub circuits
- Smart home wiring — smart switches, video doorbells, hubs
- Home electrical inspections and smoke detectors
- Rewiring for older homes, additions and remodels
What makes Maricopa homes different?
Much of Maricopa was built during the mid-2000s growth years, so many houses are now 15 to 20 years old. That is the age when original breakers, GFCI outlets and builder-grade fixtures start to wear out, and when families add loads the house wasn't planned for: an EV, a pool pump, a second refrigerator in a 115°F garage, or a bigger air conditioner.
Summer heat keeps AC systems running for months, which puts steady load on panels and connections, and monsoon storms bring lightning and power surges. A good residential contractor will look at the whole picture, not just the one outlet you called about.
How the referral works

- The contractor talks to you directly, gives you their quote and does the work. Your agreement is with them, not with us.

Before you hire: check the license
Arizona requires electrical contractors to hold a license from the Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC). Whoever you hire, take two minutes to check it:
- Ask the contractor for their Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC) license number before any work starts.
- Look it up on the ROC website at roc.az.gov and confirm the license is active, in the business name you were given, and in an electrical classification that covers your job.
- Check the complaint history on the same page.
- Ask for proof of liability insurance, and confirm who is pulling the permit.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a licensed electrician for work in my own house?
Arizona generally lets homeowners do work on their own property under the owner-builder exemption, but anyone you pay to do electrical work needs an ROC license unless the job qualifies for the handyman exemption (under $1,000 total and no permit required). Panel, service and new-circuit work usually needs a permit.
Can a handyman install a ceiling fan or replace an outlet?
A small like-for-like swap may fall under Arizona's handyman exemption if the whole job is under $1,000 and needs no permit. Anything involving new circuits, the panel or a permit should go to a licensed electrical contractor.
Is there a charge for the referral?
No. There's no charge to you for the referral; we're paid by the contractors in our network. You pay the contractor you hire for their work, at the price you agree with them.
